Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Language Story mobile and web application (the "Service"), which is operated by My Language Story LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Language Story," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who Can Use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent of your parent or legal guardian. By accepting these Terms, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your Account

You create an account by signing in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for safeguarding access to your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Your Content

When you record audio, make branch choices, or otherwise generate content in the Service ("Your Content"), you retain all ownership rights in Your Content. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display Your Content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service — including sharing it with the partner you have chosen to play with. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except where we are legally required to retain a copy.

4. Acceptable Use and Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content

Language Story has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. By using the Service, you agree not to:

  • record, post, or share content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, obscene, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence, self-harm, or discrimination;
  • engage in bullying, intimidation, stalking, or any other abusive behavior toward another user;
  • record or share content that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity;
  • attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or interfere with the Service or its security;
  • use the Service to scrape, crawl, or extract data in bulk;
  • share your account credentials or let another person use your account;
  • use the Service to train machine-learning systems on other users' recordings or content without their consent.

Violation of these rules will result in removal of the offending content and may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account, without notice and without refund. We cooperate with law enforcement when content or behavior on the Service appears to violate applicable law.

5. Our Content

The stories, dialogues, translations, lesson content, vocabulary, interface, and other material we provide ("Our Content") are owned by Language Story or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use Our Content solely to use the Service as intended. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from Our Content without permission.

6. Partner Interactions, Reporting, and Blocking

Language Story is a partnered experience. The audio you record is shared with the partner you have chosen to play with. While we are not responsible for the conduct of other users, we provide tools to keep your experience safe:

  • Reporting: You can report objectionable content or abusive behavior directly inside the app — open the session or partner profile, choose "Report & Block," and describe the issue. Reports go to our moderation team.
  • Blocking: Blocking a user immediately removes them from your view. Blocked users cannot send you invites, see your open invites, or appear in your discovery feed.
  • Email: For issues outside the app, contact support@mylanguagestory.com.

We commit to reviewing each report and acting on objectionable content within 24 hours by removing the content and, where warranted, suspending or permanently banning the user who provided it.

7. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may also suspend or discontinue the Service in whole or in part. When possible we will give reasonable notice of material changes.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, for non-use, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (for example, sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution) will survive.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LANGUAGE STORY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUES, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Language Story and its officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of a third party's rights.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the new Terms.
